Through the hunger, racists,
When‘slightly misunderstood’ was an understatement,
Reveals two prominent faces; Respectable shine,
Yet not knowing that their message was ahead of its time,
One embedded in rhymes; The other was an eloquent speaker,
And both exerted their gifts with relevance. Eager
To be evident leaders; To swallow their chances,
Of being a victim of their own unpopular stances,
On life’s illogical antics; One bellowed through speech,
While the other conciously drawn; Propelled onto beats,
They put a spell on the streets with a reason to start,
A growing sigh of relief and belief in the hearts,
Of people being apart of critical statements,
Biblical makeshifts by two of our political favorites,
Two miserable ages where disdain was covered in trust,
And minor mentions and changes just weren’t enough,
The resurgence was rough, but they both pondered improvements,
And small crowds eventually became thunderous movements,
They conquered the cruelest thoughts where misery brewed,
And hope was nonexistent, while hostility grew,
With imagery fueled minds; Never escaping the truth,
One exploring the world; One spent days in a booth,
Displaying their roots; They envisioned a growth,
That would change their mind set; A contradiction to most,
This new image predicted a foe; Believing was under
Attack and hate was steadily increasing in numbers,
Decreasingly honored; A community that regularly weeps,
Was now turning on its leaders due to jealousy, greed,
Didn’t devilishly seek outlets; They battled the press,
And their pride and dedication overshadowed the threats,
Always hassled, but yet they relished the lies,
Never fearing the downside and expected to die,
Taking direction in strides; An unsettling presence,
With a bullet killing their souls, but never their message.
.
.
Their deaths were thirty years apart,
But one’s bloodline spread to the nearest heart,
They appear a familiar part; Some suggest it was timely,
How one died in the 60s, yet manifest in the 90s,
Legacy highly regarded to ever swallow the rest,
Same religious following with multiple shots to the chest,
This loss is at best; A part of our nation within,
In hopes that he will be reincarnated again.
