I’m not signing back in. I was already close to signing out last week when I saw that MV’s abysmally written non-rhyming bar/punch received three votes against me, because it realistically should have been a shut out, but I kicked back and let it ride. But this week was too much.

In lame-man’s terms?? Lmao bruh what? Nah, please be for real. Dude straight up did not have a punch. This may sound harsh but we gotta be serious sometimes and say what’s real.

Now I could have signed out and just not said anything, sure, but I wanted to be clear about why and stand on business. I know I talk passionately, but I’m not irate in real life or “crashing out” or some shit. I can admit when it’s reasonable for me to lose, just like I did when I acknowledged plethora’s bar in week 2, and said I should have dropped something he couldn’t have beat. But I’m just not gonna waste my time showing up here every week to have a bar like what’s quoted above get votes against me. The desire is gone. Life goes on. Wish yall the best.

I didn’t care about winning or losing the battle at that point. It’s beyond that. For me, it was the principle of seeing active participants in this league casting serious votes for the other dude’s muddled mess of a bar. It told me shit is too far gone and not something I’m trying to be a part of on a weekly basis. I can’t even fathom it on a subjective level and so that was a wrap for me.

Yes bro I fully understand the concept he was going for lol I’ve been writing and reading and listening to battle rap punches for 20+ years now.

The problem is he essentially had two separate set up lines, so it was stretched longer than a Dhalsim punch. Aside from that, the wording/execution itself was simply awful and “lame-man’s” didn’t add anything as a wordplay, or make sense. Then to make matters worse, he had the nerve to use parentheses and explain (lay man’s) to us. The shit simply was not a punch, let alone one that was > mine. It was an objectively bad text bar/punch, while mine was not.

This is exactly why LLL is a much better product in this realm, because over the course of two verses containing 10+ lines, this kind of weird ass shit is far less likely to occur.

I took it as being longbar which while not my favorite format at all, I've learned to accept it as a viable approach to writing bars. The way we do it in a more short bar approach just happens to be what most people in our circle prefer. With a lot of other sites that mainly used long bar and other formats dying, I'm not surprised to see them coming over. EIther way, I liked his bar which I get you don't like. I read it again after you reposted it here and still liked it. Not like I love it either, it was a wow ass bar but I liked some of the stuff he was going with.

And see, this is the exact shit I was talking about earlier. Simply because my username says “Lay Doubt.” and his says “FaQEyeReddit” then the bars get judged on some kind of bullshit curve? Nah, that’s trash. If we had dropped the opposite bars, there is ZERO doubt in my mind the first four votes would have all came in 4-0 in favor of him with my bar.

I wrote what I needed to in order produce the better overall text battle punch in a vacuum. It shouldn’t matter what my username is.

Lastly - the set up should matter, the wording should matter, how someone executes the actual punch should matter. A parentheses explanation should damn near be immediate grounds for a vote against someone, and I’m not even joking.

At the end of the day, there should be no reality where voters in a league on this site should legitimately believe the punch he dropped was better than the one I did.

1. It is not a name flip just to simply say “lay man’s terms” when it isn’t a double entendre, and doesn’t make any sense when read that way. Any bar against me with the word “lay” in it isn’t automatically a name flip if it isn’t tied in to be coherent.
