If you witnessed a crime take place, and the prosecutor wants you to testify, but the defendant's legal team reaches a settlement with you on the basis that you withdraw your testimony, that's legal right? Like if you're legally paid a certain amount of money not to testify? You don't have to testify because you settled it?

So what you're saying is if I were to accept in the future or have already accepted a large sum of money to refuse giving testimony on the grounds that it was a settlement between two willing parties that I have or will have committed an illegal act? I don't understand. If it was settled out of court then it shouldn't be a problem. If the prosecutor requests that you wear a listening device to a friend's house to assist in their investigation but that friend's legal counsel makes a counter offer to reach a cash settlement in order to not wear a listening device, it wouldn't be wrong to take that settlement right?
