it is CHAMPING at the bit, not CHOMPING, in Dom/Spit Battle.

This phrase (or idiom) comes from the sport of kings: horse racing. A bit is part of the apparatus that goes in the horse’s mouth and connects to the bridle and reins so the horse can be controlled and directed by the jockey on its back. The bit fits into a toothless ridge of the horse’s mouth, so the horse never really bites the bit. But it can grind his teeth or jaw against the bit, and if it does, it means that the horse is either nervous, or really excited about racing. That’s how the phrase “champing at the bit” entered everyday communications: to indicate extreme eagerness.
But “chomping” has come to replace “champing” in this phrase. It makes sense, to a degree, because “chomping” is a far more common word than “champing,” and would seem to relate back to the phrase’s origin, because horses’ mouths have teeth, and teeth “chomp.” However, champing is a similar word with a similar meaning to chomp—it means “to grind teeth.” The original phrase works.
In the end, it’s just wrong to say “chomping,” because “chomping” is a transitive verb, or a verb that needs an object for it to make sense. In other words, you have to have something to chomp on if you want to use “chomp.” A horse doesn’t chomp, or bite, the bit—he champs, or grinds, his teeth. No bit is necessary for a champing to happen, so champing is an intransitive verb, which means no “object” is required.

Spence has been walking through Mikey. The weight has been real. Good call on the prediction... I look a bit silly with my 116-112 call. I still think he is a better class than anyone Spence has faced. Spence is incredibly polished. Mikey has a chin of steel.

Oh yeah Mikey is phenomenal. There is no knock on Mikey. Spence is 5'10 and a shredded 147 lbs. Not an ounce of fat on the guy. Mikey is doughy/sloppy looking like i said he would be. I made 50 bucks and got a free meal out of this prediction. So i am all good for now! Crawford will definitely be a problem for spence though.

That's a real 50/50 fight. BTW: I thought Mikey was in GREAT shape (even if not visual) to withstand that onslaught... a chin ain't enough... you have to be ready to go to war and Mikey was... unfortunately he didn't have enough gas on the fastball to slow down Spence.
Yep, nothing against him. But spence is just too much for mikey. There's weight classes for a reason. Nothing but love and admiration for anyone whose dares to be great. Great fight & before you ask PORTER IS DUCKING SPENCE =). Porter loses onesidedly to spence. hat is a terrible match up style wise for Porter. Porter does everything that is tailor made for spence. He doesn't fight from the outside so spence wont need to chase, porter is always there to be hit.

and... Broner caught him FLUSH with a left hook.... Spence has one helluva mean left hook/and straight left. I agree, I have no desire to see that fight.
I'd love to see Broner/Crawford... shoot, because of the politics behind that match up (Crawford being Top Rank/ESPN... Spence PBC/Fox/Showtime) I wouldn't mind seeing Pacquiao vs Spence next.
I looked it up prior to posting that it was champing at the bit.

Thanks @Plot . I thought the ammonia line was fire btw. Americans put too much of a hard r sound at the end of moanier for it to work for them but it was good to me
