When a mockingbird lies
Part one

A red rose fairytale
Perfected surrealism was present throughout the lifeless city night
My devout to your presence as I stared into your eyes, a priceless sight
Dedicated with all my might to rid us of this blight, so I write
Through the dark times and strife to bring you words that shed some light
You lifted me to new heights when I saw my words granted you insight
And seeing your agile smile as poems from my heart – I use to recite
Watching your joy was so nice and granted a major entice
Because helping you through hard times has no limit or any price
To you I never lied… But when you died… I always cried
I tried not to let happiness subside and maintain some pride
With pressure applied… With eyes dried and fried… I was torn inside
You had visions – ambitions so wide until a great tide ruined the ride
I turn to the Lord and ask where I made this fatal turn in my life
The future seemed so bright until I lost my best friend - my wife
Despite me on the brink of death no answer – no call – this cant be right
A slight – tight crush of my dreams but I still fight to shake the strife
How to explain an indescribable event overloaded with tears
Witness to death as it draws near – destroy peers - distributes fear
It commences with me knocking on your door with utmost suspense
So tense – nevertheless – I carry on – I need your presence
Shower you with presents and gifts from the heart as they seem
You open the door with a beautiful gleam only seen in a dream
You greeted me with a glowing face – and that smile
More beautiful than church mosaic tiles – as we drove for miles
We stepped inside and ate… It was late… Our first date
My best friend – a divine beauty – my closest mate
Wasn’t a second I would hate… As we finished off our plate
A face so delicate – perfect in every way – was this fate?
Stepping outside the blue sky we left behind turned gray
As home is where we make our way – the goal turns slightly fray
Who would have premeditated this great day would end astray
Nothing I could say - within a split second – dreams flew array
As automobiles collide – dust resides – twisted metal is all I find
Emotionally blind as the car burns to ashes – your body inside
The moment my life was then confined – Should I decline and hide?
God why did I loose my wife – were there rules which I didn’t abide?
Visions of your eyes - so many unanswered questions would arise
At your funeral I mourn your death – but realize you’re in paradise
The last amongst the mourners to leave - as I say my last goodbyes
Understanding that in my dreams you live forever – glorified
And as I bail… Continue to fail… A store with nothing for sale
I remember your skin I would hail – so pale – so frail
The victims trail… I misleadingly follow trying to find my holy grail…
Without you I’m a broken sail – witness to Gods betrayal – through Death’s mail
You were that bright star that everyone knows – A letter I write from jail
Reminiscing – the red rose I placed on your coffin – begins this red rose fairytale
