To much pride to make his confession
His captors gambling with his possessions
Ironically a purple heart, awarded for bravery
He cries out his last words… save me
His mouth now to dry for words
He was told he could die last… or how he preferred
He hears…
The blood curdling howls of his former fiend
Whose lies in a pool of blood… his life slowly ends
The words echo of the walls of his insanity
‘Tell us what we want and we’ll just kill you’ in broken English

Each day… the napalm smoke spirals…
Each night… is a crushing blow for any hope of survival
Watching the twisted skies he lies waiting … hoping… begging to die
He realises even if god, hell and heavens are lies
He still is going to…
The voice of reason long since reduced to inane gibberish
Clouds of death slowly spin in a broken sky like god was a hypnotist
All he had to do was tell them what he knew of the mission
And would be the only person to die… he regretted the decision
He thought there was a chance of a dramatic rescue
Before all the men are killed and he’s the one they get to
A man says ‘isn’t he already dead’ in Vietnamese
His captives walk towards him… he looks up and sees…

Just when any hope of survival stopped
Gunfire… all the Vietnamese soldiers drop
Just in time saved from harm
His saviours free him from the rope around his arms
Carried by his arms and legs… half dead half living
He is dropped next to a dead bird helicopter… the blades still spinning
He lies lifeless…not a word is spoken
… A plastic body bag is opened

great concept, strong vocab and plain excellent imagery. good to see some topical heads in open mic again. a good read all round man, a few multi's would've added to this but it was well worth the read.

intense story, quite well told with great imagery, vocab and at times metaphors, the only thing i think you could work on mainly is flow to carry the story better but other than that this was well done, the concept altough done before met expectations and the references to god worked well with the story, yet although in the end you achieved what you were going for, it could have been better described compared to the rest of your story

yeah safe for the responses... but stuff'd honetly i wanted to leave the ending open for speculation while making it clear what had happened... but the first 4 lines of the last verse i'm the least happy with. has there been similiar concepts... i didn't know i've just got into doing open mics or do you been taking song lyrics or the ending.
