    G-Unit - Beg For Mercy

well since c-section reviewed the black album i thought i would do a review for beg for mercy...i'm not really that good at doin reviews but o well...track listing might change before the album actually drops...

    artist: G-Unit

    cd title: Beg For Mercy

    release date: 11/ 18/ 03

    record label: G-Unit/Interscope

    # of tracks: 18

    Run Time: 68:44

    Intro:
if you havent heard of g-unit or 50 cent before now then you must have been living in a cave or something this year. either that or you've never listened to a mixtape, which g-unit has been all over the mixtape scene for most of the year. 50 blew up huge with his solo 'get rich or die trying' which dropped earlier this year. now hes looking to do the same with his group g-unit and there debut album 'beg for mercy'. g-unit will probably sell a ton of albums while riding the 50 cent wave of success but if the albums good or not is the real question.

    Track by Track Review

1.G-Unit - this is a decent intro. the beat is pretty hot. no hook. young buck comes off ok, 50 comes off ok but i wasnt really feeling his flow that much. banks drops a decent verse for him but still outshines 50 and buck. overall i give it a 6.5/10
    run time: 3:29

2.Poppin them Thangs - another pretty hot beat. 50 provides the hook which is nice. 50 drops a pretty good verse. lloyd drops a real hot verse. buck comes off decent also. overall i give it a 8/10
    run time: 4:00

3.My Buddy - this is probably my favorite track on the cd. intro has the end scene of Scarface ("say hello to my lil friend"). song is basically talking about there guns. the beat is nice. 50 again provides the hook, which is nice. banks comes and drops a hot verse. 50 comes off nice. buck comes off ok again. i give it a 9/10
    run time: 3:44

4.I'm So Hood - beat is pretty good but probably me least favorite of the first 4 tracks. this track is a 50 solo track. he drops 2 decent verses. 50 takes a few shots at some rappers like lost boys, mr cheeks, lunatics and maybe diddy. hes says sean but the last name is edited out with a gunshot. i give it a 6.5/10
    run time: 2:25

5.Stunt 101 - this is the lead single off the cd. beat is hot and so is the hook. 50 drops a decent verse. lloyd drops a nice verse. buck comes off decent. overall this is a pretty hot track. i give it a 7.5/10 mainly cause of the beat, hook and banks verse.
    run time: 3:52

6.Wanna Get To Know You - the beat is ok, has an r&b vibe to it. hook is sung and i found it entertaining. buck comes off ok at best. banks drops a pretty good verse. 50 comes off decent. i give it a 6.5/10
    run time: 4:25

7.Groupie Love - beat is decent. hook is decent as well. 50 drops a ok verse. yayo makes his first appearance on the album and drops a real nice verse. lloyd comes off real nice as well. i give it a 7.5/10 i would have given it more but i'm not really feeling the beat that much.
    run time: 4:14

8.Betta Ask Somebody - beat is pretty hot. hook is good. banks comes in and drops a nice verse yet again. buck comes off pretty good. 50 comes off pretty good too. i give it a 7.5/10
    run time:3:53

9.Footprints - beat is pretty good. this is a young buck solo. bucks first verse is pretty good. hook is ok. bucks second verse is decent. third verse was decent as well. overall this is a ok song, buck doesnt say anything really remember able. very skip able track. i give it a 4.5/10 i was thinking about giving it a 5 outta 10 but its really skip able, so i decided on 4.5.
    run time: 4:21

10.Eye for an Eye - beat is hot. hook is pretty good. just your standard gun talk song. banks comes off nice again. buck comes off decent. 50 comes off nice. i give it a 7.5/10 would have given it better but its nothing new or original.
    run time: 3:55

11.Smile - the beat is pretty good. it has an r&b vibe to it. the hook is pretty good. this is a banks solo track. banks drops two solid verses. this songs for the ladies. i give it a 7/10
    run time: 3:38

12.Baby You Got - beats nice and so is the hook. 50 drops a nice verse. buck comes off ok. banks comes decent. overall this track is pretty skip able i give it a 6.5/10
    run time: 4:03

13.Salute U - hot beat and a hot hook. buck drops a pretty good verse. lloyd drops a hot verse, real nice. i give it a 8/10 i would have given it more but i thought the track should have been longer.
    run time: 3:00

14.Beg For Mercy - beat is hot, sounds alot like the backdown beat speeded up. 50 drops a pretty hot verse. the hook is nice. buck comes off decent. banks comes and drops another hot verse. i give it a 7.5/10
    run time: 2:38

15.G'd Up - beat is nice. hook is nice which is provided by 50. 50 drops a nice verse and banks comes off real nice yet again. buck comes off ok. i give it a 7/10 would have given it more but i felt buck drug the track down some.
    run time: 4:47

16.Lay You Down - beat is hot as well as the hook. 50 drops a nice verse and i found it to be pretty funny. buck prolly drops his best verse on the cd. he comes off nice on this track. banks comes off nice again, hot shit. overall i give it a 8/10 would have gave it more but i've heard it quite a few times before this. still a real nice track
    run time: 4:03

17.Gangsta Shit - beat is nice. wasnt really feeling the hook that much though. 50 drops a nice verse. buck comes off decent. banks comes off nice yet again. i give it a 7/10
    run time:4:12

18.I Smell Pussy - beat is nice. 50 takes a few shots at ja and gotti before the track starts. banks comes off nice. the hook was hot except for the "take me to ecstasy without taking ecstasy" part at the end. yayo makes another appearance and comes off nice. 50 drops a pretty good verse. overall i give it a 7.5/10
    run time: 3:58

Final Thoughts: overall this album was decent but should have been better. buck seems to say the same things in just about all his verses and doesnt really come off nice except for a few tracks. 50 comes off decent for the most part but doesnt really spit anything memorable. banks comes off nice on just about every track and drops some hot ass lines. the beats and hooks were nice for the most part. my main problems with this album is there wasnt enough yayo verses (they should have waited till he got out of jail before they dropped this) and young buck basically talking about the same shit over and over and not really making it interesting. alot of the tracks seem to blend together on this cd cause of the lyrics, same old gun talk and shit. was the album good?, yes. could it have been better though?, yes. so overall it was a pretty good album but i thought it could have been better. cant wait till the banks solo album drops next year.

    Rank:7/10

thanks for peeping...any thoughts on the album?

Just got this, and to be honest i'm disspointed..i was really anticipating this, beacuse of most songs that i've heard from G-Unit since they joined Shady records have been killa, but this isn't that good...was expecting some collabs with Em, Obie or Dre...but listening to them for 18 straight tracks is just plain annoying!

    Dissapointed.

That CD is 18 tracks too long.....

I think if you buy this then you have bought a really expensive frisbee
I think if you bootleg it off the Internet, then congratulations, you are the first person to officially download a frisbee from your computer.

it wasnt that bad, was it...........
    yeah it was...................

they all held it down nicely, only banks outshined the rest.

i thought they shudda waited for banks to get out the pen, recorded with him, an the rest of shady/aftermath records

^ yeah... they shouldve waited for yayo to be out, and had eminem and some of the other shady artists featured, that woulda been dope.... but having 2/3 of the album being held down by 50 and young buck sucks ass....

Word to what everyone said. The album wasn't quite what I hoped for either.

    production

you motherfuckers might be surprised at the production...peeps that haven't heard the album might wanna cop it just by the producers alone, looks as good the production as the black album....honestly, we all know jay-z has a hell of a lot more talent than g-unit, but as far as replay value, i gotta admit jay got old after a couple weeks. i'm still bumpin beg for mercy...anyways here's the tracklisting with production:

    1- G-Unit - hi tek
2- Poppin Them Thangs - Dr dre
    3. My Buddy - Thayod Ausar
    4. I'm So Hood - Twinz
    5. Stunt 101 - Kon Artis
    6. I Wanna Get to Know You - Red spyda
    7. Groupie Love - Dirty Swift
    8. Better Ask Somebody - Fusion
    9. Footsteps - Nottz
    10. Eye for an Eye - HI TEK!
    11. Smile - NO ID!
    12. Baby You Got - Megahetz
    13. Salute You - 7th EMP
    14. Beg for Mercy - Clack Jeruz
    15. G'd Up - Dr. Dre
    16. Lay You Down - Khalil
    17. Gangsta **** - Needlez
    18 . I Smell ***** - sam Sneed

oh yeah, and i gotta speak my piece about you dudes rippin on buck, cause he came the hardest on the entire lp. yayo's the fuckin man, but buck came with his...footsteps is one my fav's...and we all know banks is the strongest there, but his verses were weak as fuck and hsi biggest problem is that he can't stay focused on a topic. that smile song is pure garbage.
