Never Ending Cycle.

He awakes from his cocoon a little after noon, tired & yawning.
In his face it loomed, riddled with doom…
… He's sure he was fired this morning.
You see Jake just assumed he had wiggle room to defy the warnings…
That said if the lateness resumed…
His termination would soon be forming.
So while he was snoring, Ignoring the threats written by an ink tip
His employer simply kept his promise and sent out that pink slip.
And what stinks is... He thinks his uniqueness,
Is misunderstood and seems to keep his…
Self esteem unseen and infrequent.
But what lies behind his dreams…
Is a fiend for weakness.
And what I mean is seen thru his routine…
Peep this…

He awakes from his cocoon a little after noon, still sleepy
So he remains in bed to clear his head and enjoy some t.v.
But instead of watching it,
…drops out of consciousness completely
Constant stress and a need for Z’s has him exhausted.
Sleeps till 6 easily…
Then wakes up feeling queasy & nauseous
Cautious when weaving thru his fortress…
Of solitude.
But this superman can’t even save his sombre mood.
He’s volatile..
Unstable and is about to vomit too.
Cause those sips at night...
Zoom like a comet thru his abdominal.
And his kryptonite...
Are brews and a lot more than a shot or two.
The vodka’s cruel & takes what it can when the trauma’s due.
And though he’s not a fool…
He fools himself into believing a whole lotta bull.
Like he’s gotta pull this “im cool cause I kill a full Fith bottle”
Ooh!!!!!

“But whats that gonna prove?
Besides, it’s only you and the monitor dude?”

He questions him self & his health…And knows, its NOT a good move.
Yet, two hours later... he’s at the refrigerator, swallowing Goose.
Now he’s hollow & loose…
And his pocket is burning with a few dollars to lose.
So he grabs the bottle and moves towards another vice.
In front of the screen, adjusts the keyboard & types.
He is more than nice… Jake is wasted & slow witted
And decides to sign in for texas holdem... no limit.
And so it goes…
He blows most of his doe in a matter of minutes.
But what’s sad is his imgage…
… A young man drinking alone till he can’t stand when he’s finished.
It leaves him badly diminished and ready to collapse
So he crawls to his bed, rests his head and naps.
And perhaps…
He’ll change his ways and find a job he’ll choose to keep
But until then,
Jake falls into another liquor induced sleep.

Yeah, I just voted on this one. I really liked this piece a lot. I felt like, it was the prime example of what simplisity should look like. The approach to the topic wasn't too over the top or anything, the language was causual and accessable, it was just a very easy to follow piece. The piece is also just very relatable, I'm sure plenty have found themselves either as/around that type of person. It was just a very well written character, and the atmosphere you built around him was all very believable and authentic feeling. Liked this one a lot.
