Gasping for breath, he reaches down
With a frown, and pulls it out
Shoves it in his mouth, and swallows
Then disappears again, until tomorrow
What he is, nobody truly knows
But this much is sure
This amphibious beast, will continue to grow
Thus continue to lure
Little children, from the nearby Town
And pull them down
To the depths of the lake, I lay wide awake
For my daughter’s sake
She will not be taken in her sleep this night
Like a burning light
It was obvious that my flame would die down
Therefore I decide to lie down
I awake the followng morning, run to her room
Armed with a broom
Incase the beast has been, and is there still
Determined to kill
I charge through the door, and break down in tears
My worst dreams and fears
Have been realised, my daughter has been abducted
My heart is punctured
I tear through my mind, just trying to find a reason why
Of all the children, he had to take mine
Then all of a sudden, a white light shines in my eyes
“Daddy please don’t be angry,I went for a little journey
I did plan on returning
Earlier than this, but I got caught in a fire and schorched
And it was dark so I bought a torch”
“that’s ok Honey, as long as I know you’re alive and good
And not that hideous creature’s food
“Oh daddy you are a stupid fool of a man, you almost deserve
The pain I’m about to serve”
“what do you mean, what pain, what are you saying baby?
Come on I’m your dad, don’t try to play me”
“Oh but Daddy are you really too stupid and blind to see
That the hideous creature is me?
I wasn’t having a journey, I only got scorched searching for food
And now my midnight feast will be you”
With that said, the girl stripped off her clothes, and told the tale
Just by showing her body of scales
The man was murdered by the amphibious beast
and was dumped amongst the other deceased
You will have worked out, that this little girl was in a disguise
So always look for the beast behind the eyes.
