    VERSE G$A$

the G8 summit can change the world and allow our brothers and sisters to breath//
let em feed, give em hope clear the debt then people can begin to belive//
i beg them to make poverty history stop the pointless deaths quickly//
i shudder when i see the horrific picture of children unable to move physically//
i praise bob geldof for makin the movement N the artists who spoke lyrical//
how can we justify 20,000 people dying everyday in africa and class it as political//
picture the weak children prayin and pleading to the lord ' please save me'//
while 25 million live with aids or hiv and 6,000 die from the illness daily//
i only see the 'negative' as i say 2 million children under 14 are hiv 'positive'//
the aint just satistics there facts we need to act coz surley this aint no way to live//
people support the movement begrudgingly but it needs to move rapidly//
they need support financially as 200,000 child sold as slaves annually//
we need to take them by our sides, but the goverment dont hear our crys//
we just watch them die as four out of ten africans drink infected water supplies//
orphan children know nothin but pain as illnesses gets there parents slain//
its insain that people sit idly by as children cry we do nothin what a shame//

    VERSE KOKANE

    Music, time for psychological healing/
    Moment to stop stealing-n-drug dealing/
We pour out all our emotions on this track/
Forget beef, rapping to tell where our hearts at/
we can bomb the world to pieces/
find ways to stop hunger and deceases/
then why we don’t make it all stop/
show our love, make peace, let our weapons drop/
my friend told me his story when he lived in Somalia/
his little brother died from the cause of malaria/
daddy is a victim of the war/
shot while driving a MEDICS car/
it all happened right in front of his eyes/
now I realize, the pain when your dad dies/
politics and critics, say awful things to the media/
infecting our minds – WIN THE WAR the main criteria/
we started this collaboration to show our love for the African nation/
they show us nuthin but appreciation, we still think about the hation/
learn from the history, apply it in the future/
one day we’ll do that, honestly I’m sure/

    (((((HOOK))))

    G$a$

8 of the most powerfull men in the world have the ability to end poverty//
they need to sighn the papers add double aid and make history//

    KILLURSELF

we should be fighting the war on poverty and start helpin ourselves//

    KOKANE

while you can use that amount of cash to buy food instead of artillery/

    VERSE KILLURSELF

its been a problem for centuries so for real lets not confuse facts...
wishful thinkin everyone would be rich, fucka welfare check & food stamps...
mothers with lack of formula no money the containers low...
PLASMA SCREENS? KIDS ARE EATIN TV DINNERS IN FRONT OF RADIOS!...
its worse in other places but im concerned with my own country...
i wish africa and every where the best but our own kids are hungry...
family starvin for love and food what do they do now...
parents lost everything, even the roaches moved out...
starvation is real lack of food decayin their flesh...
now what are we to do cept PRAY FOR THE BEST...

    VERSE BRANDED

World and its poverty issues is still a trend – lil kids starve'n, cant even keep they strength to defend – my hood and yo hood, has been cursed wit sin /
Spend hella money in Iraq - but you cant bring tha lives of a children who dies from hunger back - most of em starve'n right down my street, suicidal hunger attack/
Dispite tha best efforts to put all the pain above it - in tha back of my mind, I'm yelling and screaming fuck it - See'n Bush side step issues, cleaning up messes wit tissues, and dont touch it/
I've been through alot, this nigga had ta ruff it - worlds poverty I've confronted – I still lived on tha streets when there was no one I trusted /
This world order aint knowin me – Theres still bayarea killins and murder sprees – and alot of hunger and death everytime we breathe /
A hungry child couldnt take my hand and squeeze -when most regular children could've done it with ease - its all about how this world will throw away money like a game of monopoly/
This aint never a time for braggin rightz – when you really see how most children live they life -some innocent children, who never wanted to fight, and kids want to live a kinda dream thats right /
so explain this next time Bush puts his mouth on tha mic/

    VERSE KASEONI

Confused, sittin alone with my thoughts far away somewhere in the sky/
dreamin, God is changin my words into food givin it to our Messiah/
returnin people their faith and becomin our hero--someone who everyone will admire/
army of angels spreadin their wings providin shelter for our children is my only desire...
THUNDER violently wakes me up from my dream leadin me in nightmare called reality/
I grab my dictionary and rip out page with definition of word poverty/
hopin it will disappear, wipe tears of childrens eyes and make them see clear/
But pain of a little girl still reflect of the mirror/
as her mother helpin her to get dressed/
Kissin her on a cheek, with her exhausted voice encouragin her tellin she is blessed/
She is quietly openin the doors with sadness coverin her face/
wonderin why her existence has to be heavily stressed/
innocent mind in a 6 year old body faced with conseqences of life she should never have witnessed/
forsaken, in the streets beggin for help, tries to sing to impress her audience but her beatiful voice remain unheard people didn't notice talent she posess/
her heart started tremblin as she fell on her knees ready to confess/
meanin of life for her doesn't make any sense/
swallow her pride, in order to help her mother survive/
hidden behind walls of tragedy/ forever trapped without a key/
nameless girl/ caught up in never ending circle continues to swirl/

    ((((((HOOK))))))

    VERSE ALIVE

I’ve been from the gutter 2 the highest skyscraper
itz been amazing 2 watch the transition of the paper
and our streetz iz littered with nothin but garbage
evil greed iz delivered, they bow and pay homage
put big faces on the green and 2 some it holdz high value
donate some love and people will put they arms around you
in the eyez of the beholder beauty comez in all classes
I cant believe some of us iz starving 2 find daily rationz
in the stock marketz the totalz will rize and plummet
in our highest mountainz we can cultivate cropz 2 supply the summitz
theze culturez that are based upon ideals of life’s compassion
clothes as basic necessities with no ideas of the highest fashion
countless people willing 2 share and put and end to poverty
but the rich get richer acquiring another downtown property
there are 6 and a half billion humans walking the earth
if each would give a penny you could figure the worth
grains of rice would be as abundant as stars in the galaxy
universal hunger would be discussed as a past time malady
generosity iz at all time low, itz folkz striving for riches
in tenements familiez cant even buy soap 2 apply 2 dishes
welfare systems drowning, social programs iz tossed away
we seen our brothers prayin for food 2 get across the dayz
but 3 jobz cant pay the bills when you got 5 mouths 2 feed
I propose we open our heartz 2 give all we can amount 2 be
just a blanket 2 help a homeless man make it thru the night
could change the tidez of the wavez thatz crashing in his life
just a coin in your pocket could change this economy mystery
LETZ ALL BAND TOGETHER AND MAKE POVERTY HISTORY...

    J-Mo Verse:

Makes u wonder what kinda world we live in, endemic struggles wage on to no avail/
Where families living off less than a quarter a day fails to register on the world scale/
Tens of thousands die daily with no regard on an exploited and brutalized continent/
Situation inflamed by the gestures our leaders make towards nations which are in contravent/
Let bloody rain hail upon the G8 summit, for corporate interests the West battles/
Never to relieve the suffering of our fellow man, their circumstances fail to rattle/
Hearts darkened by the ever-present influence of unchecked globalization/
Africa once stood proud, now a victim of the West’s shameless exploitation/
Rich in national resources, but Black skin made them a target for lazy white men/
Content to rape a courageous and educated people and instigate civil fightin/
My people in Somalia still suffer these grave injustices, lacking a helping hand/
Left to face famine and disease epidemics with no assistance, alone they stand/
All over Africa, malaria claims 200,000 lives annually, and we possess the cure/
They suffer due to our wanton and unmitigated disregard for the poor/
Some say they’d like to help, but don’t wish to inconvenience their lavish lives/
Those greedy bastards will never be forced to watch as plagues disfigure and ravage their wives/
Calls for the Canadian government to meet the .07 target go unheard and cast aside/
Our Prime Minister fails to make a commitment to the values by which he claims to abide/
American military junta has hundreds of billions to spend on oil wars and missile systems/
But can’t contribute more than loose change to help millions end this global sickness/
Former colonial powers owe Africa endlessly, and yes, corruption is an obstacle/
African dictators installed and preserved by the West pass by the world’s optical/
Its fucked up, but what can we do? All we have is the passion and the skill/
To get the word out to those in power, fore all they lack is the will

2nd & 3rd verses pretty tite all the way... a few stretched lines in the 4th
    5th a bit choppy
then the 6th is tite again

I really felt that this verse needed some maaaad lyrical surgery done on it. Im talkin' about taking it back to the basics. Props though for writing about something for a good cause. The emotion was solid throughout, but much work needed to be done.
