your best bet is to use software and ask for a midi controller for christmas. If you have about $200 I'd go with an AKAI MPD16 for $100 to have a drum pad controller and an M-Audio Oxygen 8 for a keyboard controller with some assignable fx controls and transport controls built in.

naw... got my midi keyboard for 100...mic was 78...pre amp from my homie for 80...basic mic stand for like 12...thats all u really need. so to start ur home studio all u need is like $280... evrything else is juss extra... i can get u producers edition fruity loops for free...
