As a progressive gent of the 21st century I for one think it’s fantastic that Jack’s overcome his natural disadvantages to win a battle, against all odds. Dude’s an inspiration to everyone else with profound learning disabilities. His last verse wasn’t half bad, I’d barely even class it as a sympathy vote.

I'm not keen on reading an 80 bar battle mate, if you enjoy reading books as a regular pass time then I can understand why its probs more appealing. Interesting point though @mal diction what do you class as the conventional way to write? I don't think either of them write in what I see as conventional but you been in this way longer than I have so I'm curious on ur take

See, I think my first mistake might be trying to come up with original punches. Original = unconventional. I should just stick with the most obvious, common denominator, ‘Knox ville / knock ville’ type wordplay, good old fashioned tried and tested stuff, right?

Looking at your fourth line, I can see how in my verse I forgot to add the conventional Temu Keats-on-psilocybin poetry break before resuming my punches. As is traditional in battle rap, I should be using my fourth line to attempt to woo my opponent with my most flowery vocabulary whilst outlining the plot of a budget sci fi fantasy show.

There’s one bit where you said “ for eyes you need a prescription”. I probably would’ve phrased that differently, but then I’m not well versed in the conventional way of writing. Is it conventional to phrase things as unnaturally as possible so they sound shit? I’ve seen some battlers do it, I always figured it was bad writing. Didn’t realise they were adhering to convention.

Question: should I be saving my very blandest punch for the end, or pop it right at the start?

How’d you come up with ‘only good in the net / cat fishing”? Did you have to throw out many bars before you managed to come up with something so utterly deviod of all merit?

Please, teach me. I’m genuinely eager to learn the conventional way.
