I can understand how you feel that way, I mean most of us do when we drop verses.

But you're only seeing it from your perspective.. for me, the breakdown of your verse in that battle is entirely different because we have two entirely different perspectives. I don't even watch basketball, so I didn't even know who Delon Wright was until I googled him this morning after reading your post. Also, does Bar mow lawns or something? You see where I'm going here.. there's no impact to me as the reader when I read that punch. Sure, I can surmise the meaning and it's cool, but it wasn't like "DAAAAMN that's fire!"

I can go on but there's no need IMO.. you have to remember that the reader(s) have their own perspectives, knowledge base, interests, etc.. if you're writing punches that rely on someone who's familiar with a (let's be honest, by all comparisons obscure) basketball player to make all the connections in your punch, then you're going to fall short. Hence the simplifying of bars that is sometimes required to ensure impact is felt by readers across the board.

But I do feel that I need to speak on one thing - because I don't like the assumption that I would ever "hate" vote. Bar's verse was HOF worthy. That's why, when I said no, I gave the reason I felt it was a "no". There's no hidden agenda, no hate, just an honest response. Take it or leave it.

Your analysis leads me to think your going to be awarding more points for generics because their more universally relatable, months after the fact that take less thought... but should my work be punished because it was more personally directed with double layered specific angles? And again, written at a time where ppl that werent in the league now voting months later won't get the references?

All things considered, should battles that get a HoF nom go to a vote right away while they're fresh, as opposed to months later at the end of a league season? Just food for thought

tho I certainly respect you as a writer, you know that, my point is that you are now voting on the battle months later when you weren't in the league at the time and you've openly said now that you didn't;t even understand some of the personals (i.e. is barc a gardener or something)? What I'm trying to say is that if you WERE in the league months ago, you would've known about the barc is a gardener concepts being used, and about the pics of his camo leggings or whatever floating around etc., and I feel confident in saying had you been around then that the punches would've registered more for you.
