I remember I lost a battle to OGM. My first ever topical battle on this site. At the time I didn't even know what the expectation for an SS battle was. Hell I didn't even finish my verse. I remember OGM wrote a pretty dope drop tbh. But most importantly I remember the voters trying to slick play me like I was some sort of wack new jack. One even went so far as to predict I'd lose against an opponent who could hardly type in comprehensible English. I never forgot that. Petty as fuck, I know. But we all have to have a motivation to write and compete week in and week out. My motivation started there and it was to prove to the "naysayers" they had no idea who the fuck I was. Thus I went into each week that followed determined to crack skulls. Eventually, however, the desire to do so gradually began to fade and it became more about the writing itself and the challenge of executing the topic in the most creative way possible than it did about wanting to beat my opponent. I wonder what will fuel and sustain me this time around tho?
