I didn't mean that your similes made the verse any less good. I used to love similes. I used them all the time when I first started getting into text battling because I did audios and onstage stuff most of the time. It was made clear to me right away that similes had no place in text. And if that's the case, and similes are permissible, then statementish lines should be too. Alot of the best material from the early to mid 2000's had statementish stuff that was dope.

I don't mind seeing similes coming back, but to me it's a double standard to allow similes and not statementish bars.

Whether a bar is a statement or not shouldn't matter. I don't even go along with that belief, it just has to be done to where the bar is dope or creative. Can't just be a flat out statement with no creativity or anything
