Shogun Rua vs. Lyoto Machida

So this fight isn't for a few more weeks, but I've been watching a lot of Shogun and Machida fights.
I think a lot of people are sitting there saying, "Machida is going to run through Rua" when in reality, Shogun is the most dangerous and well rounded fighter Machida has ever fought.
I always kind of saw Shogun as a sloppy guy, but then I went and re-watch about 15 of his fights... So no longer think that.

I honestly would put my money on Shogun before Machida. Shogun is a smart fighter who can take a punch. He's good with distance, has great defense, and is a cardio machine. This is going to be a war.

I'm not a machida nut hugger, but I accept that he's good.
He made Evans look like a bitch, and thats hard to do. If he loses to Rua, we'll see some interesting matches. Rua vs. Anderson... Trust me, I'd put money on it.

Silva only has 3 fights left in his contract including Belfort.

You're fatal flaw is in saying Shogun IS blah blah blah instead of Shogun WAS. Other then the Chuck ko he hasnt done anything significant in the octagon. The Coleman fight was pathetic and the Forrest fight even more so. With that said I still hope the Shogun of old shows up for this fight and give Machida a war.

No... his loss to Forrest was due to knee issues... The guy had 2 surgeries on the same knee.
His Coleman fight wasn't good at all. edit: But it was before that fight he had the 2nd knee surgery.
But look at his Chuck fight. He was fast, he had great defense, and he old self.

Shogun is 27. If he shows up like he did in 2005, he'll have more than a good chance of beating Machida.
