They did things to me, that you can't concieve, you'd probably think they're jokes.
The tax that I paid, left me decayed, warping my young mind...
They created a monster who went on a rampage, on society I dined.

If you weren't with me you were the enemy, that's something you wouldn't desire...
I've sunk a knife, swung a bat, along with the guns I've fired.
But like a mad man with a bad fan, stuck in Texas heat...
Sweat drops every time you cough and eventually you get beat.

Locked in a cell I went through hell, fighting to keep my pride.
A punch in the face, a shank just in case, my ass never took a ride!
Then all of a sudden I look in the mirror and see no bars in the background.
For years I've been free, it's 2003, and now there's family sounds.

Can't go back to that, can't carry the gat. But what exactly's right?
Hugs and smiles, laughter from your child, fucking the hell out of your spouse!
Busting decisions on a domestic mission, making ends by clicking a mouse.

Don't think I don't know, this is how rodents go, another rat in the system's race...
But I'm chill with this, keep that number on my back, even though there's no chance for first place.
Do my best to lay to rest, the darkness once held dear...
Still, after all this, the answer was missed...Why the fuck am I here?
