That's precisely what happened. Thanos beat the shit out of him early in the movie then throughout the rest of it he refused to change when Bruce Banner needed his help. Lmao. It was funny.

I saw an interview where the directors said that Hulk is not scared of Thanos... that's not why he wouldn't come out.. they said it is a continuing story line that started in Ragnarok. Hulk and Banner hate each other.. and Hulk is tired of Banner only wanting him to come out when he needs to fight .. so he can save his ass.. Hulk is basically saying Fuck you Banner... figure it out.
it ties into when Thor was asking hulk to join him and hulk kept saying no.. you're banners friend.. then they had the same scene with thor asking banner to hulk out.. and banner going "you're just using me to get to him"
but it did seem like he was shook lol.
