there was OBVIOUSLY a huge chunk of time in this country, where you could generally say that 'white people held the black man down'....

there is also obviously parts of that still left in society...


BUT... what you seem to miss, is that there is also obviously a whole generation of white men and women disgusted by the way blacks were treated previously in this country...
and we have spent our whole lives going through trying to be the exact opposite of what that was... trying to change that for good... and its happening... slowly but surely it is happening...
