There were fields of trees, cut down like meals for fiends
butchered by their own kinds alliance with steel in teams
the feeling of 'free' now a memory past in mother's dreams
crying waterfalls and tsunamis which will ravage and seize
everything back, wrath molten and seething down cheeks
until endless sheets of smoke rise from the criminal beings.
Consume and adapt, that's the way it's always worked
survival of the fittest, now an excuse to rule the earth.
But what's the worth, the top of the food chain is idle,
It's not about the strength any more...
it's more about the intelligence to cover your hide well
Yet we walk the same ground as predators, the editors,
who stalk prey by sedative to bind til' they're dead at war.
The spiders web unravels in the wind, etched between
towers built to cool things down yet only burn with steam.
People getting hot under the collar for mountains of dollars
... as convenience pours in.
Shooting holes in the sky, for those dying stars to free fall
if we ever got our wish, there'd be nothing left to reach for
and evil is evil, good is good but it proves there's no equality
when man comes bearing arms there's no time for impartiality
it's a tragedy, and sad to see the people screaming frantically
as bullets fly like shattered dreams and pry into their sanctuary
it's actually the facilities, meant to protect and serve everyone
gunning down the weak like sheep, stuck in fear of ready tongues
We will combust, we will destroy, everything that ever mattered
yet not blame ourselves, consuming resources and growing fatter
there is no latter we were doomed from the start to the finish
when there's no choice but to 'upgrade' or watch our lives diminish
Our minds grow too sharp, piercing through the bone and flesh
we moan and jest at not doing enough, until our holds are threshed.
Until we are only left with The End
... and wonder where it came from?
