today i woke from bed and chose the left side to dismount from
in ways evoked to shed my hopeless head, sizing this cloud up
as the day went on, everything was off but it felt alright
slightly askew from my monotony of this hell called life
overwhelming unfamiliar feelings of joyfulness
its freeing when seeing you don't need any loyalists
i've opened my eyes for the first time over my life line
a potent surprise, formed or designed, sobering my mind
negate any negativity, let your brain illuminate
the way for your train of thought to move its weight and ruminate
deciding against the scorning blues of the morning news
i transition through the door with this new found fortitude...
sorting through the epic hues and psychedelic sunsets
the faint tones of blues and greens misconstruing my upsets
scuffed shoes rub the rough pavement paths and cross roads
where the love I once lost was exposed like a soft rose
the rows of broken lines explode beneath my feet
as I drove my mind aimlessly weaving through the street
the oblique laughter that once sat void in my soul

Atleast when my child cries I can dry his cheeks.
I'm weak, I think, before I lift this burden again,
I'm yearning to sin an snort a perc or drink some Bourbon or gin
Smoke a blunt or 2 but remember I got something to do,
I gotta family to work for an something to lose!
So I throw the boulder back on my shoulder an hop outta bed,
Knowing I can't live for the moment I gotta work till I'm dead.
Now that use to be the reason I was chiefin getting high as fuck,
But now I see I gotta keep moving forward, I can't rely on luck.
My family depends on me to make it so I face shit with a grin,
Maybe when I'm 60 I'll get lifted again.
I'll never stop trying even with my clothes an shoes in tatters
But until then I'm making progress an that's all that really matters.
