What kind of setup do you have?

With so much different stuff out there now, what are y'all working with? What kinda interface you using? What's your mic? Whether you have a professional studio or a USB mic. What do you use to make your music? Do you love your setup? Do you hate it and wanna upgrade? I think a thread like this will give newbies a good idea of the different types of setups that can get the job done. So tell us what you're working with?

You needa get away from Cool Edit. Try out the Pro Tools you have. It'll be worth converting to a better DAW than Cool Edit. You could always try reaper.fm too. I'm prolly gonna switch over to that from Audition 3 soon.

Komplete is the best sound library for instrumentalists like I do more electronic/dance never tried rap and plan to attempt a beat or two as soon as I buy a new computer or find one thats cheap that can handle the programs I use. If you make beats Nah I'd buy komplete it'll be your best buddy.

Check on ebay. I just got an Acer desktop with a 1TB hardrive and 8gb ram and an i5 proc for $400. This shit runs beautiful. As far as interface, I got the Focusrite iTrack solo. It does what I need it to do and sounds great to me. I think it's on sweetwater.com for $100 right now. And they have some good mics on there too. Or you could also check ebay for something you find to see if you can get it cheaper lol.

Yeah @Nahlidge not sure what the deal is u install the actual program first then u install the mic but it says not to plug it in when installing after it's installed u restart the PC then plug the mic in. The British guy on YouTube is fucking with me.

Re: What kind of setup do you have?

@joeboston the hardware it's not detecting refers to an audio interface. Which I'm guessing you don't have one. You can pick em up for like $100 for a simple one. Having one of those will improve your sound quality by roughly a million percent. Laptop soundcards are not made for dealing with anything worth hearing tbh. ProTools requires you to be a bit more serious with your setup, but it's worth it.
