Hangovers are caused by a depletion of fluids and electrolytes. You need to limit further dehydration while drinking and replenish with potassium and moderate sodium intake while hydrating. Zero sugar gatorade indeed works, my time tested (often) method is a gallon of decaf green tea as the drinking session winds down.
