    Guitar to DAW

So I have a couple of friends who play guitar, and I was wondering how I can have it so they can plug in their guitar to something that goes to the computer and the guitar acts sort of like a midi piano. Hence, whatever notes they play on the guitar will appear as midi notes in the program (I use Cubase, if that's of any help).

i think u would need a guitar midi controller specifically for that.
but then that defeats the purpose of them playing with they're gtr's/
just have them play it on time and you'll be good.. or use flex time (Logic) or Elastic audio (Pro Tools) ti fix those little timing issues.
as far as plugging it in.
use a standard 1/4 TRS cable into an audio interface

there is actually a couple plug-ins out there that will allow you to use the sound of a live instrument to trigger midi notes....but i dont remember any of the names.....
google "guitar to midi" though...im pretty positive youll find some results....i came across it at kvraudio.....

those types of programs dont work well though unless the instrument if in good tune....

Oh damn I didn't even think of that! I see... maybe if they were tuned with a guitar tuner the program might distinguish the notes more accurately. Hmmm.... thanks for letting me know though.
