This is a piece Eko Ren and I collaborated on. Its called, "The Path". Paragraphs written in intalicized font is Eko Ren's part, the unitalicized paragraphs are my paragraphs. Feedback is appreciated.
Eko Ren:
The road is dusted with promise as it peeks through the forest
But its winding curves -- they are less than honest
It's still narrow and modest and it stretches the farthest
It reminds me of my first love -- before the last harvest
That means it was late summer, sometime in August
It was fitting, because by then, the weather was hottest
But whatever, that's amiss, these pastels are much cooler
The trees are naked and winter will be here much sooner
But you can still smell the flower's perfume
The air is rich with delicious breezes remnant of June
Sex in July, all those drunk, drug filled nights
And August, when we ate watermelon and chewed ice
On the stoop or patio or the porch, it was nice
And I feel it as I sway into these fading remnants on the sides....

....Sides that swiped me, almost lost my balance,
of walking down this path, coming home to my queen's palace,
Anger fills my emotion as I stop heavily on the path's surface,
Anger in my eyes, I walk heavily as people walk by nervous,
Hate is present, never felt this way before, its overtaking my soul,
If my life is a circle, im missing the whole
walk past kids playin in the sandbox, my anger makes me crush their castle,
wipe the sand off my feet, and kick their toys to the gravel,
This is the life I've ever known,
Seen too many people walkin this path, so I call it my home,
So many memories in my mind, to forget this path,
Wishin those good times would come back, but no i can live in the past,
My anger runs deep, like a psycho its makin me crazy,
the only thing in my life worth keepin, is my lady...
Eko Ren:
Maybe it takes me back because you're like a lady
Long and curvaceous, but never straight, baby
You make me do these maneuvers to get through to ya
Lately, I feel like most girls will do exactly that to ya
As an acid test, perhaps to choose the best out of many
And here's my two pennies -- watch my footwork
To say the least, I exert my superiority like an extrovert
Just get in the pedals and assert, a bike and me converts
Into a machine, of which nothing can intervene or divert
As I pass by, I even get respect from the dirt
It divides like I'm moses leading the Greeks from the Turks
But, don't mind me, I leave no marks, I'm a perfectionist
There's nothing fresher than this, I want to leave it spotless
All you'll see is a couple of tracks, and I'll be the wind, gone regardless..

This path I walk, reminds me of memories of us that I can't forget,
If you want me to change, I will, but you can't change this path,
This path ain't worth walkin without you, forget the aftermath
bricks layered with concrete, like our love won't break and shatter
like broken glass, don't act like this doesn't matter,
ill walk this empty path back to reality if i must,
No doubt ill get an empty feeling without you, but i guess i'll adjust,
Even Dorothy walked a path, found her way back to kansas,
Like Bonnie and clyde we do it real good, like bank robbers and bandits,
Like people do everyday, walk opposite ways on the path, different directions,
Im not complete, but you are the closest thing to perfection,
walk down the road - stop my the river, see my image, my reflection,
This path made me appreciate who i am, in every selection.
