editing vocals in sonar doesn't mean it give professional quality. lol,
editing on any software is more or less similar, you should just get used to do things properly. I don't think there are any special methods in sonar to make it sound professional. its all same

411 is correct editing doesn't give you great quality. Gear and acoustic environment give you great quality recordings.
and to what you're asking is considered mixing not editing. Which has no set steps and is a case by case situation
I suggest learning what each does and what each parameter in the plug in does

That's called latency fam, it has nothing to do with the program. When I record I mute my vocals, I hate hearing myself while rapping.

you could use any plugin effects you need during mixing, but you can't increase the quality of a shitty recording inserting effects. to some extent, the sounds may sound good to your ears but its exactly not what it is. proper mixing could be learn from tutors, friends (or robots), or links around the net or sound engineering courses are dedicated to the same. or you should just believe your ears and do that what it makes it sound good in a proper way. its all upto you. study the properties of your recorded sounds and put desired effects to it. learn how to send effects gently and slowly

Mixin volume lables correctly is called mastering. you can master your audio using a compressor, limiter or else..
