I had a ruptured disk (the pads between the bones)... they have fluid in them, and when they tear open that fluid leaks out and it's real painful... the fluid calcifies and attaches to soft tissue, like nerves... mine was leakin' out and crustin' all up on the nerves that go out to my shoulders and leakin' into the spinal canal and crustin' all up around the brain stem at the top of my spine... so they took out the bad disk and cleaned up the mess... they took a chunk of bone off my pelvis to put in where the disk used to be...
