Right-hander Javier Vazquez has not had fun in pinstripes this season, allowing 25 earned runs in 23 innings if work and issuing 15 bases on balls in the process. Vazquez gave up 28 earned runs in two months last April-May, and didn't issue walk No. 15 until May 25. Whatever is wrong, New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi is starting to show signs of impatience and would not commit to Vazquez next time his turn comes around.
Chan Ho Park and Sergio Mitre are in-house candidates the Yankees could consider using in place of Vazquez, whose next start is scheduled for next Friday, although Girardi could simply use the day off Thursday to push everyone else in the rotation up a day.
