Meh, cool edit im using to edit my vocals. I'm using cubase for recording, then I guess I'll try AA3 for messing around with antares.

Dinh, I don't know why it would make them better.

Bullet, you should pick one program and stick with it. There's no reason to use multiple programs.

Because I know how to record in cubase no problem, but when it comes to mixing and mastering the vocals etc...theres no tutorials for it, and cool edit theres tons.

by using multiple programs your just wasting time

never used cubase but it cant be that hard, the principles for mixing are the same whatever daw you use, so whatever tutorial you are following they will aply to cubase also, just might require a bit of effort. Cubase supports vsts so you can use autotune.

It can help your quality by letting you use better plugins and different mixing techniques. But as far as the quality of the raw recordings, there shouldn't be a difference.

If you can mix in adobe then you can mix in cubase. It's not very different. And there are plenty of cubase tutorials.

yeah, im thinking about buying cubase 5 atm, i like audition but midi sucks, i cant have logic or pro tools so it seems the best option.

having said that im trying reaper out atm, looks a bit shitty and its quite different in layout to AA3 but from what ive read its a pretty capable daw...i`ll see how i get on before i pay out for cubase

Re: Antares Autotune 5 (Effect T-Pain)

As for the tutorials, best thing i ever did was go back to basics.

I remember reading somewhere noobs generally get ok mixes as do experienced engineers, yet the amateurs in the middle get shit sounding the worst becasue they have half a grasp on the ideas and experiment with shit...

i was using wayy too much effects, now ive gone back to panning, volumes, mic placement etc...everything is soooo much easier, cleaner and more consistent.

its too easy to overcook the dinner!

Paying out for cubase is like 600, better just to buy an interface that comes with it. lol. Reapers probably the easiest program to get recording.(yes even I got it). Opey what do you classify as mixing, because for me its just setting the vocal volume to the beat volume and vice versa lol, but I guess I should of just said I use cool edit only for mastering vocals.

Re: Antares Autotune 5 (Effect T-Pain)

mixin' is the whole process of makin' your vocal part of the finished track... from cleanin' up a raw vocal (in most cases of us with inferior gear), to compression, eq, effects of any sort, volume levels and pan, all that... mixing is exactly that, just like the ingredients in a cake...

Oh ok, but I thought mastering was adding effects etc.
