Cool Edit doesn't support VSTs. You're using software that was made in the 90's.
I coulda sworn I've seen ppl say they used plugins for cool edit. I'm just trying to up my quality and figured I'd try mixign with some plugins....do you have any recommendations?
edit - i was able to install autotune with cool edit (which I don't use)...isn't that considred a plug-in>?

Cool Edit uses DX plugins. If the plugin installs a DX version then it'll work with Cool Edit. My recommendation is to at least upgrade to Adobe Audition so you have VST support and a bunch of other stuff that modern DAWs have.
well Opey already said it... chump mcgump... Just upgrade... you can find OTHER programs... that are BETTER... the SAME way you found CEP...

True, i hear you guys....but I'm just so used to mixing with cool edit. I've heard adobe audition is setup just like cool edit...is this true?
If so, what version of adobe audition should I look for?

Yea I know what you mean. I still use my POS computer from 1988 because I'm comfortable with it. I'm afraid of change.
Seriously tho, look for the most current software you can find. Why would you use anything except the most current program?
Audition is Cool Edit... Exact same program.. just with more features
