La Haine + Man Bites Dog

Another dope movie. It's a criterion classic so I paid like 30 bucks for it but it was worth the money. It's a French film shot in black and white and set in the French projects where the animosity between the police and citizens is coming to a head.

It takes a look at society and how the alieniated main characters fit into it. Real dope flick.


I also picked up Man Bites Dog, which is about a documentary film crew following around a serial killer, it's worth the watch if you don't mind lots of blood and gore, realistic blood and gore, and a pretty fucked up rape scene.

La Haine is great, quality film. I wish the Criterion Collection had UK releases, they always look like awesome packages that justify the jacked up cost. We get Eureka's Masters of Cinema series which goes some way to making up for it, similar deal with the extras and essays in the booklets and stuff. Does the Criterion La Haine have much going on in the way of extra bits and bobs?

Man Bites Dog is pretty mental, haven't seen it in a couple years. The murderer is a great character. Rape scene is pretty damn fucked up though. Interesting film.
