Gears of War 2 help

So I just started playing it again where I left off whilst playing it on hard. Its been like 2 months.

For some reason, I'm pretty much stuck.
I'm on the huge drill,tank looking thing and I'm suppossed to shoot down the incoming morters or whatever. I do fine for 1 minute until I get to the Rave that flies right next to the tank. I use the mounted machine gun and all that and literally, it doesnt die.
In these 2 months of not playing it, am I forgetting the killspot or something? I've taken both the riders off and it doesnt die.
what do I do?

I shot the riders off then just blasted their heads..They died every time.

the only part i had trouble in was the sea monster...i never knew how to kill him until days later
