    Food for thought

We all know that there isn't much money in the publication of poetry and there are so many scams on the net to try and get your money through these poetry competitions. I just want to know one thing. Is there a legit internet competition that exists out there?

I will check it out.... Maybe one should organize with the minister of arts and culture and have an exhibition.

Unpossible.. Are you aware at the amount of e-poets there are? I'd guess 10 mil +

I don't think you'd ever find a proper poetry writing site that gets checked by successful poets, publishers etc, for every one that's serious & good there 1,000 that aren't. I've had a bit of success in OMHoF on this site, but it would never go on my resume to a publisher or anything lol, it's not at all serious & because they don't really see anything special in this type of thing. The best poetry in the world has already been written on paper, the internet is, unfortunately, just rehashing a lot of what's already been written just in a different way.

Your best bet is to use the internet to seek out magazines & the like that run this type of competition

I was going to suggest Writers Magazine, they tend to hold Poetry competitions but most charge an entry fee I believe...

Poet and Writer's Mag, definitely a good choice. They list competitions but also publishers just looking for submissions. Great asset. I'd trust 99% of the stuff that is advertised through them.

    Re: Food for thought

Anyways i have a good relationship with the minister of arts and culture here in South Africa and she sad there is a shortage of writers. Child stories and poetry. So she adviced me to send her my stuff and them I could meet with educators to structure it around their syllabus...
