The kid is a killer but rough around the edges wet behind the ears, doesn't have his own studio & uses amateur equipment n methods. Basically I'd be paying for the beats lets say 12 tracks, and the song mixing. This is all very underground keep it funky I'm not rich but have rich investors
so how much you think that job should pay?

This isn't really an issue to be discussed with anyone outside of the production circle.
What I (or anyone else) thinks is fair may not be fair to you, and probably won't be fair to him..so you should sit down, show him the budget for the entire production of the album, and figure out a nice middle-ground that'll keep both yours, and his pockets happy.

It's really up to the both of you. If he's making beats and you're doing vocals then a 50/50 split is a good starting point.
