Heard the hurt

cracked lips and a scorched tongue
do no justice for the pain
spoken by the wounded.

two ears can fear what they will hear;
afraid of insult
& injury.

your teeth are aching within their texture,
and your chords have been pulled -
vocally and consistently, against your instrument of choice.

but I knew when the hurt was heard..

a sounded alarm forwarded to a cerebellum,
where all the intelligent nuclei retreated -
leaving only the ignorant, and the lonely.

a want that has eroded into a steady need
and we all need a suture when harmed -
still you are cold for a bandage blanket.

and the decibel level deceased.
the anxious feeling after the storm -
recovering the damaged and lost.

there is hope for tomorrow,
tomorrow is there for hope.

my life changed when I heard the hurt,
as it leaked a thousand floods.

I liked the abstract in this poem... it felt necessary. Often times I feel short poems aren't meant to describe everything as much as it's meant to simply 'ring true' for the reader. I'm not sure how to react or interpret all of it at this point, but there are bits in here that stood out.
That said, I feel poetry can also fall into obscurantism, where it intentionally makes no sense... To me, you're touching the boarder and it's simply mindless images meant to (maybe) invoke something.

I think the execution was excellent. I could almost feel the hurt myself just reading this.
