Most web sites/accounts on websites period are hacked 1 of two ways.
1. By exploiting a flaw in the software on the site.
2. By guessing the password.

Now every wanna be hacker in the world have brute force programs that are basically just a program that has a dictionary that will continually try and guess the password using terms from the dictionary. This is the type of program Im guessing everyone in here is talking about and it is NO different then guessing the password of a friends account except its automated.

People that use these programs are NOT hackers they are script kiddies. They more then likely do not understand shit about computers but like to pretend they do just like the idiots on here that bite text verses in order to get some fullfilment in e-life that they don't get in real life.


edit: and the probability of a brute force attack working if you have a strong password is ridiculously small.

There is no single one size fits all for every piece of software out there. And If your talking about myspace/facebook specifically how would I know. I do not spend time trying to test the security of them nor would I want to. I don't think its 'cool' to take over peoples useless myspace accounts.

only way is to Phish, create a fake login in page and where the PW entry field is submitted have it go to ur email... or guessing/brute force prog.

If someone falls for a phishing page from one of those websites these days they deserve to be hacked. They both throw up big old warning pages about how your about to leave the site everytime you click on an external link.
