Sure. Half of the rappers out, seem like it's their full time jobs to make Black people look like fucking retards. It's not completely far-fetched.

I think I missed where people are idolizing him.

Who is it that calls this dude their hero?

BTK constantly alludes to Micheal Savage and Kris takes issue with that.

Oh, okay, I knew I was missing something.

Hmmm... well, to tell the truth, that doesn't surprise me much.

He'll be here to defend himself eventually, lol, but the thread title doesn't leave many clues.

    Re: Simple Question

    First off...

You cats don't define hip hop...not to me, you don't.
So...that should answer quite a bit of your questions right there.

See, I'm older than you...like, your father older, in some/most cases...and older cats don't see shit the same way as younger cats do.

That's been a generational thing since the dawn of time/family/whatever.

Why you insist I see shit your way is beyond me...hip hop has nothing to do with it.
I don't even...really...use or care for the term, "hip-hop". That's a term your generation came up with...not mine...
When I got into it, the shit was just called RAP. WTF is hip hop?

In my day, I never heard the term used...

When Run DMC broke out, it was Rap...when Ice T started recording, it was Rap, NWA, Eazy E, KRS One, etc...RAP!

From where I was from (Houston, Texas), the years I got into it...83, 84, 85...
It was Rap. Always has been to me.

And no one termed it the Rap "Community"...
This Hip-Hop "Community" thing you guys have...is for your age bracket...
And I find it a bit strange that you don't allow each other to think differently. You seem to believe that if you like and listen to the same kind of music...you all have to think and act politically the same, have the same social conscience...

    Why?

What happened to individuality? Free thinking?

Why on earth, should my enjoyment of writing rhymes have ANYTHING to do with my political or social beliefs?

To me, its about WORDS. And how those words are put together with other words to form something entertaining, meaningful, and possibly beautiful.

It has nothing to do with community for me...it has nothing to do with a certain political message...it has nothing to do with a certain way of thinking or living.

It has to do with a mastery of the english language and the ability to entertain.

That is all it is to me.

That's why I can enjoy most everyone's shit...cuz I'm not thinking of who they are or why they wrote what they wrote...

I'm just looking for talent and a good read.

    What is wrong with that???

    Re: Simple Question

then you DONT participate or even understand hip hop. You like rap. and that's cool. But you're definitely not a hip hop head... which is fine too. I don't see the problem. I do find it strange that you spend most of your internet time on this site, but I'm not telling you to leave either.

But hip hop is a culture. It's a commuity. It's been around since before you knew what it was. Hip hop existed BEFORE rap. You should do some research on the shit that you participate in. You'll probably find it interesting.

    and with that said... sigged!

    Re: Simple Question

    Well...

I suppose you could "pwn" your dad or mom in the same way.

It's really not that hard to pull the "I'm young, therefore, more intelligent and in touch with what's really important in the world...than my old ass, set in their way parents."

It's been done. You lose points on originality.

    And seriously...go learn YOUR history.

It's funny how cats who WEREN'T EVEN BORN YET...are gonna tell me what Rap is and isn't. I was there...and not as a baby...as a teenager, old enough to spend money on ALBUMS...vinyl...so...I really don't care what you think. You don't know. You just think you do.

Rap was a bloodthirsty fuckin thing when it first came out...there was no community...it was every man for himself. You cats are lucky enough to be born into something already established. Back then...there was no rap "industry"...it was a fledgling thing...newborn.

But ok...whatever...you know more than me. I understand your way of thinking.
    I was a teenager...and I've been in my 20's before.
I realize the misguided shit that comes with being that age.

    Peace

    Re: Simple Question

you're not even close to being old enough to be my father lol. My father is almost old enough to be your father. you're like an older brother. you're not THAT old man lol... or maybe I'm just old too lmao.

but you defiitely don't know shit about hiphop. like I said. do some research. hip hop started in the 70's before there were actual "rappers." rapping used to be something COMPLETELY different before actual rap music. you have no idea what you're saying. I didn't need to be alive in the 70's. I know my history. a lot of the guys who kicked off the hip hop culture are still around. You can look up plenty of videos and interviews of them talking about it. I wasn't even trying to "pwn" you or whatever. This has nothing to do with age. You SHOULD know more about hip hop than me... but you don't. I'm cool with you not getting it. But don't try to paint yourself as a hip hop head when you're far from it... especially since your definition of a good rap song is "a good READ" lmao
