Dog, the Mayans were harder to conquer because they weren't all in one place like the Aztecs were. They had major cities, which were pwnt by the Spanish, then the rest of the smaller villages were probably integrated in with the Spanish, seeing as they colonized all of land that the Mayans lived on. So, really, no matter how you slice it, the Spanish ended up conquering them. . it just took longer because they weren't all round up and exterminated.



They weren't the beginning of their decline, but they were the main cause of it. And to say that the Mayans weren't conquered because some of them ended up leaving what little they had left before they could get rocked is sillyness. You can't really win a war while being a refugee.
