Microphone buzzing... something i can remove?

    can i remove microphone buzzing?
the software i have is Reaper V2.205
when i record on audacity (yes that piece of shit) just for practice
i can remove some noise and it takes the buzzing out
    well anyway
is there anyway i can remove the buzzing with my program? or do i just have to buy a better mic?
I'm always up for a challenge, just hit me up

it depends... if it's just typical, low-level noise from the mic itself you should be able to get rid of it with noise reduction in whatever program you use... a lot of inexpensive mics, especially PC mics and dynamic mics have higher self noise... if you set your program to record, and be totally quiet and just let the mic pick up the sound in the room, you will probably see just a little bit of noise real low on the display... hopefully it's below -30db... if it is, then you can get rid of that... if it's much louder than that, you may have somethin' wrong with the mic...

of course, it could also be noise from your comp internally... or a bad connection inside your mic cable or mic jack...

Gating removes it... but only when the signal is low. so when you talk itll be there but between higher signal levels itll be removed if you set the gate to do that
Try corrective EQ maybe... and I dont think youd have to remove the band of frequencies completely but enough so it isnt dominant atall

try to figure out where the buzz is coming from instead of trying to deal with it in the post editing stage.

its better to get it a the source of the problem

my K2 used to buzz when i first got it, but thats because my power supply wasnt grounded, and my cords were a mess in the back of my comp

all that can cause buzz, which is just electrical interference.
    Welcome to reality.

since he asked if he hadf to buy a better mic I was assuming greatly that it was his mic. Do what Kris said iif your mic is a condenser or dynamic. If its a carbon standard pc mic or something then the buzz will be coming from that. Id suggest buying a better mic anyway - theres decent 1s out there for $150 and less
