    Mounting Monitors

Ok the time has come that I actually get my own pair of monitors... Im getting M-Audio BX5As and sitting them in a decent position in my room (that will be a decent cotrol room).
I plan to sit them on my wooden desk which is built into the wall and Im wondering if I need to mount them on foam or something? Basicly so that the basst move them or whatever... so its absorbed in whatever I mount them on.
The other option is having them coming from supports on my wall which would be kool... I dunno how much it would cost or where I would get em though.
    Any ideas?

The units Im working with is in the corner so I couldnt get stands... I want the isolators though. It would be good to have my monitors coming from units in the wall at quite a high height bfacing towards me on the isolators

Well I can manage 3m apart... 1 thing is Im not a great distance away. I have a build in table that sits up quite high. What I now plan to do is just sit my monitors on that or just my screen at the front of it with my monitors on the wall and have a desk come out from under it... that I can put my pc keyboard and midi controller on aswell as my interface, mouse mat etc. But I need to shift a radiator if I do that... which I might not be able to do

BX5a's are small though, they really don't need to be that far apart... I have the BX8's at only 4 feet apart with the tweeters just above ear level when I'm sittin' and it seems to be just fine... mine are sittin' on top of my desk on Auralex angled pads...

just get the mopads. You'll be fine. You want to put treatment on the wall behind the monitors, especially if you're close to the wall. A bass trap between the wall and floor behind the desk is a really good idea too.

And make sure you EQ the monitors.

definitely treat the wall behind them... when I got mine poundin' at over 80db (which is rare) the woofers would flutter and sounded like shit... I "treated" (blankets, you know how I roll) the wall behind them and moved them out about 6 more inches... sounds fine now... mine also have a proximity switch on them, which I don't fully understand but it seems to help...
