    Newbie Advices

    "Hey, you need a border!"

"Hey, you need better brushes from DevianArt!"

"Hey, your sig is too big, make it small!"

No, you don't NEED any of that shit.

Those things are like putting on band aid over gun shot wound.

People who suck depend on those things for a quick fix.

If you think like that, if you think in terms of, "I have to

use this, or that, I have to follow tutorials to be good."

You're only covering up for your suckdom. Sure, you

will still improve by the means of pure experience, but

it will take you a long, long, long... long time to get good.

So then, what do I suggest? Learn the principles of design

and get inspired by great works of art. When you know the

principles, instead of trying to memorize techniques without

even knowing why they work, you can apply these principles

for any situation, any style, with any tool, and your shit

will still look good. Then, my friends, you are good.

Read this book as soon as you can.

    http://www.free-ebook-download.net/m...le-manual.html

Rent it from the library, download it from a torrent site, or buy it.

I don't care. Just get it.

The Complete Guide to Digital Graphic Design

    Universal Principles of Design

Both of those are good books too. Quite non-Sig-making orientated, which is good

I see alot of people here focus on technique... But remember there
are three parts to a good graphic design... Those are...

    1. Concept
    2. Applying design principles to convey the concept in a pleasing and unique way.
    3. Technique
