I find my mind stumbling over our future
As you take my order and make my latte
With such admirable delicacy
That would give any broken man
Ideas of making you, a part of me.
For I’ve been on a bumpy road
For 8 months or so now,
And as I stutter a simple
“th-th-th-thank you man”
as you calmly pass
my drink to my clammy palms,
with a smile only a goddess could muster
I realize so much about us.
My pride and common sense are now long gone
And as you softly wink at me
While returning to your duties,
I’ve already shoved a beautiful
Bouquet of roses down my throat
Just so I can speak sweet words when you return.
You’ve taken the greens of my envy
The reds of my anger
The whites of my faith
And the yellows and purples of my imagination
And spun a web of enigmatic water colors
That I would die to drown in
While I sip my coffee in respect to how your soul
Dances hand-in-hand so easily with my own.
Problem is…
