Giving up

I gave up on my dreams once
In reality...I was giving up on me
I let my today influence my tommorow
Allowed known fiction to become my facts
I allowed another's insecurities cripple me to be lazy
Let a vision of love,or maybe lust,make me crazy
Let Miss Mary Jane overcome my check
And placed my morals to rest for little to nothing
To continually give and never receive
Forgot aspirations to never be achieved
I became the person I looked down upon
The ignorance I laughed at and kept walking
Became the shit i was talking
I converted into my worst enemy
While losing my perception of life
To be replaced by someone else's vision,
Then, their mission of self destruction...
Became mine.
Found myself lost in a world of negativity
Deprived of positive energy
All for nothing...at least nothing to my worth
None of it compared to my ability
I've made higher goals now
They're unfaltering
To nevermore be what i was before
I will not be brought down anymore
So, now whatever life has in store for me
I won't turn to the hindsight of neither she nor him
I've discovered my identity now and besides...
I already gave up on my dreams once.

Its refreshing to see straight from the soul poetry, RB has become such a haven for abstract points of view, and twisting of concepts etc, that it is very nice to see just a true to eye poem..the thing that really caught me on this poem, is that it read so nicely, as though it was being performed before my very eyes, i honestly could see this being read up on a stage it was nicely put. Emotion was big, imagery didnt have much play for me here because the words where so drawn to emotion and touching the reader..which is what i like to see from a poem...liked this one, good write!
