Fruity Loops is good for beginners, CuBase is when you get to a certain level and want to upgrade... Fruity Loops is easier, esp when used with other progams... My choice is FLS, cuz im not that advanced...
It all depends on what your doing and what program you favor. You'll find highly advanced heads that will choose FL over Cubase, and other heads that will choose Cubase over FL. You just have to mess with the programs and find the one you like better.
I prefer FL.

Cubase is more geared towards producers using hardware and with prior experience with DAWs.
Fruity loops is specifically targeted towards beginners.
That said, Cubase can produce better quality music if used correctly, but Fruity Loops can get the job done in a simpler manner.
Depends on what you need, I use FL mainly right now but once I get more shit I'm gonna start using sonar.

I'd say FL is more user friendly. Starting off with Cubase will have you pullin' your hair out. But honestly, it shouldn't matter what you're usin' cause if you're good and really love music, you'll get whatever you're usin' to do what you want. I think the software(or hardware) you start off with is usually the one you end up mastering.

Welcome to reality.
cubase is programmed to interface like a console and an MTR. FL Studio is made to work like a beat machine. 2 different programs with different uses. I suggest learning to use both together. neither is more complicated than others.
Yeh theyre mainly used for different things... I use both of them and theyre both good packages. FL has evolved more than Cubase has to be honest... it started off with almost nothing and became great. Cubase started off ok and became great. Cubase is good to sync equipment up... therefor its good for using a lot of hardware with. FL is good for beginners because yes it does have a lot of simplicity about it... especially since its already set into loops for you. Its easy for looped music... what it was designed for.
Cubase was designed for being THE central software package of a DAW and it is... FL seems to be more of an accesory.

Open up FL inside of Cubase.
Bingo. There you go.

I can whip up 10 good beats in FL in like 20 minutes. I can create one complete instrumental in Cubase in 1 hour.

lmfao
no.
FruityLoops reminds me of a drum sequencer, it's one of the best to whip up a quick drum pattern. But Cubase is an all-rounder. You can do a lot more in Cubase than you can in FL. I would say that FL is good for producing quick Hip-Hop beats (beats being the key word here). Cubase is good for producing in depth instrumentals (instrumentals being the key word here).
