well basically the preamp is to make your sound studio quality.. u hook the mic in it and there is no static.they also control the levels for evrything plugged into it. sounds comlicated but when u get it its really simple. i have the lexicon omega.. hook the mic nto the omega.. crispy clear sound.. theres like 8 knobs on the front , it can control the volume of 2 mic. headphones, ur monitors. an instrument or whatver. but if u only have 1 mic and evrything.. u really just need the lexicon alpha

if its too much.. just get the one without the shockmount cuz it really doesnt do n-e- thing..juss makes it look better.. and when u get a mic make sure u get a pop filter to blok all the air and stuff so it doesnt sound crappy.. heres the one i got..

yea.. i would juss get the 1 for 69 but lemme tell u .. they dont come wit mic cables.. and they dont work without mic cables.. so if u get that 2nd one make sure u get an XLR mic cable.. the 3rd one come witta cable..but its been backorderd, so it wont b available till the 10th of november..and the las thing ull need is a mic stand..evrything else is extra..
