the korg has a ribbon controller. that's why I'd pick it over the MPD24.

Take $1000 out of your computer budget for a Mackie Control Universal. I can build you a monster studio pc for $2000 easy.

packaged PC's are going to either be shitty or way over-priced. AND they're generic. You want a PC built to handle audio production.

M-Audio Keystation 88 Pro (midi controller)
Korg PadKontrol (Drum pad midi controller)
    Edirol Ma-15D (Monitors)

    you can start from there.
Id recommend Cubase too... or even Nuendo
I thought he meant a studio setup for a producer who wants to have a studio if ya feel me haha. Plus not everyones a hip-hops producer
But get that sound interfeace too for Pro Tools... its the best soundcard for the price range and its got ins aswell as outs

but that's if you want software... if you want hardware... it's pretty simple with 2400...

Akai mpc 2500 and a pair 500 monitors... records/cds... etc etc etc etc...

If you have the money to invest in the right computer (which you do) then you should have at least these key elements:

    1. Dual Core Intel CPU w/1333MHz FSB and 4MB Cache
    2. 4GB PC2-6400 Dual Channel RAM
    3. Dual Monitor DVI Video Card
    4. 450W Power Supply w/ detatchable cables for air flow
    5. 4 Hard Drive RAID array
    6. Quality CPU fan for proper cooling
    7. Silent PC Case
    8. Wide Screen Monitor w/ DVI (preferably 2 of these which would run you about $400 together for both).

None of the Best Buy PC's will have half that stuff. Sweetwater's highest end PC doesn't have a couple things here and they're around $4000. Same with Mac Pro's. I don't even know what the PC would cost off the top of my head, but I know it's under $2000 for sure... including the monitors (which you can just order yourself).

the mbox is an over-priced piece of crap. I've had the thing. I got it for half price and got rid of it. M-Audio gear is actually affordable and it's better quality gear.

FIRST: cubase and nuendo are the same program... nuendo can use viideo... EVEN if he wanted a studio... 2400 is MORE than enough to get that working... he doesn't have to be a hip hop producer... there are ALL AROUND mics better than what you're proposing... not to mention you didn't go into specifics... just random shit... and MBOX's are pieces of SHIT... FUCK PROTOOLS... if it isn't worth 1200 and up it's not worth it from digidesign... and that is not an opinion... that is a fact. the best soundcard in the price range... you're fucking retarded... my 3 year old EMU 1820 shits on the mbox... the M audio 1814 which is supposed to be the "baby" version of it SHITS ON THE MBOX... hell the smaller maudio interface 410 I believe SHITS ON THE MBOX... and I'm including the pro.

MBOX's ARE SHITTY PIECES OF EQUIPMENT AND PEOPLE WHO BUY THEM AND CONTINUE TO USE THEM SHOULD BE SHOT IN THE FUCKING FACE.
