Microphone help. .

Like, when I set all of my shit up, turn on my interface/pre amp and turn on the Phantom Power I can hear everything fine from my microphone. However, when I press record in Cool Edit Pro shit'll be straight for a few seconds and then the beat turns REALLY loud and makes it so I can't record (because nothing I say gets picked up). However, when I stop recording shit I can still hear myself fine in the microphone.

Any suggestions/ideas on how I can fix this? I don't know shit about computers so it's probably something simple as hell, but this shit is pissing me off bruhs. WORD!

Nope. The mic came in a box and shit and that was it. No software was with it.

It may not be compatable with the programme, then again, i've never used cool edit, so i'm not sure. but try researching the model of mic you have, there may be some information towards what it's compatable with and what it isn't. sorry for the lack of advice!

No problem. I have no idea how to fix it either, lol.

But word, I know it's compatible with Cool Edit Pro. I was recording with it like, 8 months ago (I haven't been able to record since then). The program that I had been recording on was Cool Edit Pro with the exact same set up that I have now. I don't know what the problem is.

I think youre recording your soundcard instead of another interface (your mic). You need to make sure that the INPUT to your program is the name of your mic instead of "blah blah blah primary sound driver"... I dunno how to access this on cool edit before since Ive never used it. Try options or whatever
