Soundcards...

Im gona upgrade the 20bit soundcard on my laptop as soon as I get it...
I know basicly jack shit about them BUT i need to be able to mix songs on it to as high quality as possible (for college) but not master for final projects as I can do that in college.
I want to hear EVERYTHING... and I also dont want the soundcard compressing my music more than it needs to be at early stages. I also want to hear everything to full quality

My tutor recommended this on a budget of £50 ($100)

BUT would I be able to use this on a laptop?

Other thing is... on laptops can RAM upgrades be done by the user or would I need to pay to have this done? (if I already had the chips)

soundblaster convertors are the pits...

and do you already have the laptop memory sticks? or are there standard pc memory?

Memory sticks as in RAM sticks?
Or as in actual memory sticks? If you mean memory sticks I have a 180GB exteral harddrive. And if you mean RAM sticks/chips I dont have them yet... Theyre not too expensive but I'll be buying 2x 1GB chips. Ima go to the shop near me and ask if I can buy them to fit in a laptop
I have that Mbox already lol... well one very similar (more headphone ports)
I thought that I'd need to upgrade the soundcard actually in the laptop though? like internal, not external... I did with my PC

dogg, the Mbox IS a soundcard...its an interface....u dont even need the soundcard in your laptop turned on if u have an Mbox...
