Aite so I just ordered the kiwi and the blue robbie pre. I really don't wanna use this firewire solo interface for too long, but while I must, I have a couple questions on wiring. I noticed the robbie doesn't have an s/pdif output, and only has the XLR out. Should I run the xlr into my firewire xlr in and just leave the 48v turned off on the solo? Or is there some kind of xlr to s/pdif converter cable? Thanks.

balanced = xlr... because of the ground...
unbalanced = 1/4... because of the way it's grounded...

Just so I got this clear. The unbalanced input isn't a big deal, only because the lengthy part of the connection is balanced xlr and i'll only be using a short unbalanced adaptor which wont pick up any distortion right? Basically what I gathered is that unbalanced lines can cause shittyness if they are too long...
Fukn dude at SW keeps tellin me using that kiwi and robbie with my firewire solo is like gettin a porche and coppin 30$ tires for it. lol, he told me the unbalanced input adaptor will be ok for a lil while but I should upgrade as soon as possible. I'm like bitch you aint no hustla. Tho I am gonna get the motu urltralite sometime later on...

Aite well untill then... But dam i'm fuckin anxious yo bout to be rocordin wit the same mic as alota dope artist. I know I don't have most their other resources... But shit i'm gettin there. I heard bow wow, nas, bizzy bone and some other artist have recorded on this mic. And I already know the robbie will be sick... I think the only thing i'm going to invest in after this for awhile is a compressor/noise gate and an interface. Suggestions on compressor? Or should I just stick w/ plugins till I got some money for the good shit?

I just got my kiwi, waitin on the robbie and i'm ordering the fireface400 on monday. Kiwi sounds alot better but I can tell this lil' shity ass firewire solo isn't even close to giving it justice.
