question on buying the 610 pre

Aite so I had the solo 610 in checkout and was bout to order it, and just started thinkin. First of all, I know i'm gonna need another xlr cable. My question is, when I hook it up from mic--->Pre--->interface, will I need to leave the pantom power "on" on my firewire solo or will it work as a "thru" if I leave it off? If not what are my options? And if it does work fine, will I notice a HUGE difference in quality apposed to my current setup? (rode nt1a and firewire solo with mogami golds). I plan on getting the mojave mic soon after this. Just looking for a little input on this purchase.

you will bypass the pre on the interface all together... and use a xlr to 1/4 cord... yes you will notice a difference... huge..? don't know... but a difference yes... because the firewire solo has shitty pres...

so basically this is how it will go. MIC xlr----xlr PRE xlr----1/4 interface ---firewire-- to computer??? I don't even see a 1/4 input on my interface. Is that what the balanced line input is?

So whats the bal line output for? I'm guessing for in case I was using the solo for a pre only, and needed to run it through some other components? OOhhh yea, and I meant to ask, in the future would it help quality to get a better interface? I mean if i'm bypassing the pre on it anyways, I don't see how it would.

the balanced line in and outs are for bass guitars, or other instruments you'd run through a mono preamp.... also for mics that dont require phantom power.

and it would help you to learn a bit about audio interfaces in general, i know of interfaces that have 2 TRS in's and 4 TRS outs, that are $1200 bucks... Why? Because they sound better. No audio interface is created equal, and the firewire solo is at the bottom of the rung... and i know cuz i own one. Quality always trumps Quanitity in the world of audio gear.

as far as your general question...
fuck gettin a mojave mic first...

get a new interface... like a presonus firestudio, or mackie 800f or something instead.

as far as seeing a HUGE improvement in quality? Probably not huge until you get your signal chain stronger... a mic preamp is just as important if not, more important when it comes to quality than the mic is...

and when you do get a mic... save up a lil more than 1000 and get a peluso p22 51.

Lol, na, it's pretty much even the same price on ebay. N good lookin on the tips kris. That presonus looks pretty fukn tite with that lil software mixer. What if I get that, the solo 610, and the mic later on. Would I be skipping something?
EDIT: Oh yea, and if I were to save for a mic... I'de prolly go with the TLM 103, is the mic you recommended better? I couldn't find much on it. N/m found it http://www.atlasproaudio.com/peluso.html . But yo the reason i'm going with sweetwater cuz they do that pay later shit. So what mic would you recommend in the 1g to 1500 range that they carry. Or possible 2g
